Clinical Pilates is a unique approach to changing the way your body moves and holds. While traditional Pilates focuses on 'core strength', Clincial Pilates uses enhanced diagnostic criteria to devise a program targeting better movement first. Postural and functional strength is important but if you are not moving well - it is unlikely that just strengthening will get you where you want to go. Most of us have imbalances side to side or back to front so at Pondera, we feel that traditional methods focusing on 'neutral' positioning can quite often be detrimental.
Our unique approach breaks your program into 4 stages, each with its own challenges and targets. All clients start with a Physiotherapy assessment at which your initial stages of rehabilitation and movement reeducation are planned. One on one sessions are followed by progression into group setting where everyone has their own program.
As you progress, your program reflects the gains made and we review all goals to ensure you have new targets. Our colour coded system allows us to easily ascertain each clients’ current status and maintain the appropriate supervision and intervention. Clients are rewarded for their personal commitment to improvement with complimentary massage sessions and fee reductions in the 3rd (Blue) and 4th (Green) steps.
All Pondera Clinical Pilates programs are individually designed and constantly supervised in groups of 6 max. Class structures do not allow for individual concerns and week to week changes do not allow enough time to adequately relearn motor patterns before progressing.
